A Family Tradition Since 1989
Growing Community Through Gardening
Welcome to Soviero’s Tri-County Garden Center. We’re more than just a garden supply store. In fact, we’re a family-owned business from High Point, NC dedicated to helping our community grow.
The Heart of Tri-County Gardening
Since 1989, Soviero’s has stood as the heart of gardening, lawn, and landscape in our region. Located in High Point, NC, our garden center sits right where Forsyth, Davidson, and Guilford counties come together. For over three decades, our family business has helped local gardeners, homeowners, and landscapers bring their outdoor dreams to life.
From Small Beginnings to Complete Solutions
What began as a small plant nursery has blossomed into a complete garden center. Today, we offer everything from seasonal flowers and vegetables to premium soils and bulk materials. Additionally, we provide specialty garden supplies and expert gardening advice throughout the Traid.
Our Commitment
Through changing seasons and gardening trends, we’ve maintained our commitment to three things.
- Quality plants suited to our local climate.
- Personal service that makes a difference.
- Honest advice you can trust.
These aren’t just words on our website—they’re the daily practices that have kept customers coming back for over 35 years. This commitment has been our foundation since the very beginning, when one man’s lifelong dream took root in High Point and grew into the trusted family business you know today.
The Soviero's Family's Story
The Soviero family story represents the American dream—one filled with challenges, setbacks, and the unwavering determination to build something meaningful. What started as Clem Soviero’s lifelong dream has grown into a three-generation commitment to serving the High Point gardening community.
After nearly three decades in New York’s landscaping industry, Clem Soviero had a dream. He wanted to open his own garden center.
When health concerns led doctors to recommend leaving New York’s air pollution, Clem saw an opportunity. Consequently, in 1989, he and his wife Pat moved to High Point. They invested in the old wooden building on N. Main Street that had housed Albertson’s Garden Center for thirty years.
Initially, Clem planned a quiet retirement. However, he found himself restless. As he later explained, *”I started getting very impatient and just plain bored silly. I didn’t know what to do with myself.” *¹ And so the venture began…

Building the Dream
That July, the Sovieros committed their life savings to the project. They spent months scrubbing, painting, renovating, and stocking the space. Finally, Soviero’s Tri-County Garden Center opened its doors. The venture showed immediate promise. Furthermore, they successfully reconnected with former Albertson’s customers while building new community relationships.
When Dreams turn to Ashes
Just two months after opening in 1989, disaster struck. A suspicious late-night fire on September 3rd destroyed everything—inventory, buildings, and newly renovated facilities. Instead of giving up, Clem showed the resilience that would define Soviero’s. “After the fire, we were devastated,” he said. “We had nothing left. Then I thought, it’s only money. Everyone was all right, and we could always work and make money and rebuild.”
Rising Stronger
The rebuild wasn’t easy. With savings gone and limited insurance, Clem borrowed $10,000 from his father and took a second mortgage. For eighteen months, the family operated from a tiny house next door while rebuilding. Customers loved the cozy, country store feel—inspiring Clem’s vision for the log cabin design you see today. Clem’s favorite saying carried him through every challenge: “We sometimes lose what we go after, but we always lose what we don’t go after.”Today, Soviero’s Garden Center stands as proof of what’s possible when family values, community commitment, and determination come together. The same vision that drove Clem through cancer treatments, devastating fires, and starting over continues to guide the garden center.
When you visit Soviero’s, you’re becoming part of a story that spans generations, survived setbacks, and keeps growing stronger each season. The Soviero family understands that gardens, like families, require patience, care, and sometimes the courage to start fresh.
